The annual IEEE RFID conference represents multiple disciplines and highlights technical research and academia, while the RFIDJournalLIVE! conference is the world’s largest event focused on RFID and showcases over 200 exhibitors including; Honeywell, Impinj, NXP, RAIN RFID and Zebra.

The IEEE Young Professional meetup will take place at the IEEE RFID 2017 conference in Phoenix.

A meetup event mixing the local community of young engineers with the international crowd of an IEEE conference is a great opportunity for interaction and networking.

Young engineers nowadays are less inclined than past generations to join a professional association to network and to stay up to date in their professional field. One reason is that they can find most of the resources they need online. Nevertheless, online connections provide little or no opportunities for young engineers to interact on a personal level with their grown-up counterparts, leaving them with few opportunities to learn from the more experienced.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is today a word buzzing in every media and RFID is the most promising technology in the IoT scenario. With our RFID 2017 meetup we want to introduce our IEEE young professionals and students to the RFID technology; update them about its state-of-the-art; and expose them to the research done so far. Our event will encourage interactions with senior engineers and researchers involved in cutting edge RFID applications.

Date of the event will be on May 10th when the poster session and the Smart City Mega Challenge will take place. Young professional will have the opportunities to mingle with the most diverse crowed of professionals involved in the RFID: researchers presenting their research results at the poster session, finalists from the Smart City Mega Challenge pitching their innovative use of RFID technologies for improving the quality of life in the cities of the future and industry professionals participating to the RFID Journal Live! event.
